How to Unlock an Entry Point

After a visitor has checked in for their scheduled visit at your location using the Visitor Signage or another designated check-in area, they will need to use the original visitor invitation email that contains their QR code.

This QR code can be used in two ways:

  • Check-in: Visitors can scan the QR code at the Visitor Signage for a quick check-in upon arrival.
  • Access entry points: After check-in, the same QR code can be used to gain access to entry points throughout your building, such as doors or elevators equipped with Avigilon Video Reader Pro devices.
    • If the visitor hasn't checked in before scanning their QR code, the first time they scan their QR code at an entry point, they will automatically be checked in, and a notification will be sent to the host.

To unlock an entry point, the visitor simply presents the QR code from their phone to the Avigilon Video Reader. Once scanned, the reader will grant access to the configured entry point for the visitor.

Note: The visitor QR code is valid only for the day of the scheduled visit.

View Visitor's Number of Entries

To view the number of entries the visitor has been granted, follow the steps below:

  1. In Maptician, navigate to Visitor Mgmt > Manage Visits.
  2. In the Visitors column:
    1. Click the visitor’s name if the visit has a single visitor, or
    2. Click the number displayed if the visit has multiple visitors.
  1. In the Visitor List pop-up, find the visitor and view the Entry Attempts column.
  2. This is the number of times the visitor has scanned their QR code.
