Overview

Maptician now supports editing a recurring reservation series directly from the reservation sidebar. Changes made at the series level apply to all occurrences. You do not need to update each one individually.


Editing a Recurring Series

  1. Open any resource's calendar from anywhere in the app (e.g., Home dashboard widgets, Finder, Calendar).
  2. Select any occurrence of a recurring reservation to open the reservation form.
  3. Below the Reservation Owner section, you will see a banner that reads "This reservation is part of a recurring series."
  4. Use the dropdown to switch from "single {date} occurrence" to "the entire series".

ℹ️ NOTE

The form defaults to editing just the single occurrence you opened, so there is no risk of accidentally changing the whole series.

 

Editing from Finder

From Home > Finder, clicking a recurring reservation tile on the timeline and selecting Edit will show two options directly in the pop-up:

  • Edit this occurrence
  • Edit entire series

Selecting either option will open the resource calendar with the reservation form pre-populated. The series editing mode will already be set to whichever option you selected from Finder.


What You Can Edit

The following fields can be updated at the series level:

  • Title
  • Rooms / Resources
  • Attendees
  • Message
  • Conference URL
  • Categories
  • Private visibility toggle
  • Buffer Before / After
  • Video Conferencing (Teams, Zoom, Webex)
  • Adding/removing additional resources via the Locations tab
  • Adding/removing Attendees
  • Services (Catering, AV, Setup Materials, etc.)

⚠️ IMPORTANT

The date/time and recurrence pattern cannot be changed when editing a series at this time. These fields are read-only in the reservation form.

 

Review Series Changes

As you make edits with the entire series selected, a Review series changes tab appears at the bottom left of the reservation form, showing the count of affected occurrences. Clicking it opens a slide-out panel with a per-occurrence breakdown of every change being applied across the series in real time.

This panel is especially useful when your series contains exceptions, which are occurrences that have already been individually modified (e.g., a different title, adjusted date/time, or other single-instance edits). It lets you see exactly how the series-level edit will interact with those exceptions before you confirm your updates.


Saving Changes

  1. Once you have made your edits, click Update Series
  2. An Editing a Series confirmation dialog will appear 
  3. Click Confirm Series Update to apply the changes, or Cancel to return to the form and continue editing
  4. Your reservation series will now be updated with the changes

ℹ️ NOTE

The confirmation dialog includes a Never show me this again checkbox. Selecting it will skip this dialog on future series edits.

 

Canceling a Series

When editing in the entire series mode, a Cancel Series button appears at the bottom of the reservation form. Clicking it will prompt a Cancel Series confirmation dialog warning that all occurrences of the reservation will be permanently canceled and that this action cannot be undone.

Click Yes, Cancel It to proceed, or No, Keep It to return to the form.

⚠️ IMPORTANT

Canceling a series is permanent and cannot be undone. If you only need to remove a single date or future occurrences, switch the dropdown back to the single occurrence mode before canceling.
